The average real estate closing uses 460 sheets of paper, and there are nearly 8.6 million closings each year in the United States. Translation: 7.9 million reams of paper — or nearlyhalf a million trees.

That’s according to Stewart Title Company, one of the nation’s largest title insurance companies, which is on a quest to make paperless closings the rule rather than the exception.
