The coming year is expected to be a continued time of transition for residential real estate following what have been, in most parts of the country, ideal market conditions for the past few years. The market is shifting and real estate broker/owners may seek to return to the basics by focusing on the fundamentals of real estate and business management. Here are some tips to help you plan for and sustain success in the new year.
Be a Leader
To me, leadership means being responsible for the conversation and keeping it alive. With the turn in the market, a certain amount of negativity often follows by agents, clients and the media. As leaders, it's our responsibility to drive the conversation in a positive direction and sustain that conversation through the sharing of relevant, useful information. During a transitional market, agents look to managers more than ever to set the tone — and that tone can significantly impact their productivity and ultimate success. Another component of being a leader is accepting that you cannot be all things to all people. A true leader recognizes this and puts the right team members into place so he or she is freed to lead the company and focus on core priorities.

The CRB courses have changed how we analyze our books, agents and long-term retirement plans. They allowed us to pull ourselves out of potential financial ruin and create systems that even my tax accountant has been impressed by.
