As the Blogosphere Turns

By Tiffany Stochel, Real Estate Business Magazine, July/August 2008

Blog revolution and evolution
The modern blog, short for Web log, evolved in the 1990s from the online diary where people would keep a running account of their personal lives. In fact, when asked to choose one main topic, 37% of today’s bloggers cite “my life and experiences” as a primary topic of their blog, according to the Pew Internet & American Life Project study, “Bloggers: A Portrait of the Internet’s New Storytellers.”

“A blog is a place where opinions can be expressed — from the blog owner and the general population,” says Kathy Ragsdale, vice president of business services at RE/MAX Equity Group Inc.
